Kitten and Puppy Care in Lindenhurst, IL

Your Kitten and Puppy’s
First Visit

Your Kitten and Puppy’s
First Visit

We recommend that puppies and kittens receive their first veterinary visit within a week of them coming home. During the first visit at our animal hospital, we perform a comprehensive wellness exam, checking your pet from nose to tail. We also discuss the importance of vaccinations, which protect against several potentially fatal diseases. We conduct fecal exams and deworming, since most puppies and kittens are born with worms from their mothers.

Once the physical aspects of the visit are covered, we can discuss caring for your new pet at home. We address topics ranging from training, behavior, diet and nutrition, spaying/neutering, parasite control, and microchip identification. We can also provide you with basic training tips as well as recommendations for bedding, carriers, toys, and other products. Feel free to ask any questions you have about your pet.

Behavioral
Counseling

We want you and your new companion to have a strong, healthy bond, just as much as you do, and there’s no better time to establish that bond than when your pet is young. Lindenhurst Animal Hospital offers behavioral counseling to help your pet become a well-behaved, well-socialized pet. We can address several of the most common behavioral issues, including nipping, jumping, and barking. If necessary, we can also refer you to a trainer or behaviorist in the area for more extensive instruction. An excellent at-home resource is a book called "Decoding Your Dog". It discusses the more common behavior concerns that everyday dog owners have.
